Out of town, in the Birchwood area, is the Birchwood Shopping Centre, which is more like a mini retail park with a post office, supermarket, and homeware stores.

Public Transport
Lincoln has a reliable bus service to get you in and out of the city, though some rural areas will see more infrequent services. Trains from London take between 2 and 3 hours, depending on which service you choose. From Manchester, it takes around 2 and a half hours by train.
Driving Directions
It’s a similar story by car, taking around 3 hours 20 minutes from London, up the M11 and the A1, and around two and a half hours from Manchester, via Sheffield.
Walking/Cycling
Being a compact city, Lincoln is very walkable and has good pedestrian routes. A walk up to the old town does feature a steep hill, so it might not be easy for anyone with mobility issues. It’s a very cycle-friendly city, with many designated routes. The surrounding areas are great for cyclists, and the terrain is mostly flat.
Parking in Lincoln
There’s a good range of parking options in the city, both long-stay and short-stay, with NCP multi-storey car parks and open-air smaller car parks around the city. If you’re visiting the cathedral, it is possible to find free parking a few streets away.
