Over the years, it has retained its womenswear passion and heritage, that began with making garments for other retailers. It wasn't until the 90's, when the company realised that many high street fashion outlets were marketed towards younger female shoppers, that it decided to act upon this. Rather than just focusing to one age group in particular, Roman Originals decided to design and develop a wider range of products that would attract a broader range of women, with the hope of attracting those who were not the target market of other stores.

Though it began offering clothing as concessions in other highly reputable chains throughout the country, from 1998 onwards, when its first retail store opened, it increased in size dramatically. By 2011, there were a total of 50 Roman Originals outlets, a number that increased to 100 by 2014. As well as the clothing that has always featured highly in the company's output, accessories such as handbags and scarves have been added and the company continues to be popular today.
