Paydens is a family-owned, independent pharmacy chain based in south-east England. Established in the ’60s, it provides high-quality pharmacy services and many medicines. Weight management, smoking cessation, needle exchange, and blood pressure monitoring are just a few of the services individuals can benefit from at their pharmacies. The company is highly regarded, and because it believes in pharmacy’s role in public health, it has strengthened its links to British healthcare services. Anyone needing the services of a pharmacy like this and wondering if a branch near them can easily find one.
Paydens has over 80 pharmacies across South East England, including in cities like Brighton, London, and Tonbridge. Their pharmacy locations are most often found on high streets and shopping areas.
Payden’s opening times vary by location. Generally, locations are open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 6 pm (some close between 1 pm and 2 pm) and Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm, with most closed on Sundays. Hours vary by location and during public holidays such as New Year’s Day, Easter Monday, and Boxing Day. When looking for one of their locations in the street, try and spot their logo, as their storefronts are not unified. Their logo is a green "+" plus sign, with a horizontal bar in light green and a vertical bar in darker green; in the middle, they partly overlap, making them look woven together. On the left of the plus, "Paydens" is often displayed in green letters; on the right, "Pharmacy" is in white lettering.
Paydens is a highly esteemed and successful chain of local community pharmacies throughout south-east England. Many people know of its services in the areas where its branches are present and may have used them more than once. However, there might still be some facts you still need to learn about them!
- In 2018, the chain announced that Parkinson’s UK would be the company’s first charity partner and aimed to raise £100,000 for the great cause over 12 months.
- As part of the partnership with Parkinson’s UK, it also aims to offer Parkinson ’s-focused MUR or Medicines Use Reviews in its community pharmacies in England.
- The name Paydens comes from the family name of Pay from the owners and those who run the business.
- 2011 at the highly regarded Chemist and Druggist Awards, Mr Pay, the chain's managing director, was awarded the title Business Leader of the Year.
- Dennis Pay and his family were listed as number 21 in Kent’s Richest List, published by Kent Life magazine. Even more interesting, although he and his family are less rich than Keith Richards or Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones, the pharmaceutical business owners were higher on the list than fashion designer Karen Millen and John Paul Jones, the former bassist for Led Zeppelin.
As a chain of local pharmacists, Paydens provides an extensive selection of medicines with various pharmacy services. Customers will find anything in one of the 90+ outlets, including medicines, children’s medicines, vitamins and supplements, personal care products, oral care products, complementary medicine, family planning items, feminine care products, hair care products, and many other items. Like most modern chemists, there are also gifts and other items available.
They also offer free blood pressure monitoring and needle exchange services. The chain’s wide array of products, medicines, and pharmacy services is why it is so popular and highly regarded among people across southeast England.
Established in 1969 by the Pay family, who are still in charge and run the company, Paydens has expanded from its humble beginnings over the years and decades. The organisation always believes in the evolution of the pharmacy. It works with it rather than against it to serve the community's healthcare needs with the necessary professional attitude and commitment.
