York House Gardens is the home of the Naked Ladies, exquist marble statues placed there by Sir Ratan Tata, who designed the gardens of York House in the style of an Italian Garden to entertain guests and display a set of statues he had acquired. The set of statues includes eight women and two horses, all made from Carrara marble. The women are believed to represent the Oceanides, sea nymphs from Greek mythology. The original arrangement instructions for the statues were lost, so their exact placement is unknown. They were likely created by the Roman studio of Orazio Andreoni in the late 19th century and are now known as the "Naked Ladies." The rockery and arrangement were designed by J Cheal and Sons. The statues are free to view.
