O2 is a leading telecommunications provider with over 25 million subscribers, making it the second largest behind EE in the United Kingdom. It runs 4G and 5G mobile networks all across the UK and operates its O2 WiFi service nationwide. They sell mobile phones either as pre-paid or on a monthly billed basis. They also sell tablets and accessories such as headsets, Bluetooth receivers, and car phone accessories. If you need a mobile phone contract setting up, you can walk directly into a store and choose a new phone and a plan that works for you.
They operate over 450 stores, most of which are in London, Glasgow, Manchester, and Liverpool. However, their locations are all over the UK.

- It was previously called Cellnet and BT Cellnet before rebranding as O2 in 2002.
- As BT Cellnet, they launched the UK’s very first GPRS network in 2000.
- They offer Europe’s largest free WiFi zone in London, which covers the boroughs of Westminster, Kensington, and Chelsea.
- They regularly sponsor sports teams and events such as the England Rugby team, the Rugby World Cup, and, previously, the Arsenal Football Club.
- They sponsor the Millennium Dome, now named The O2 Arena, which holds sporting and music events such as various events during the 2012 Olympics.
The company primarily focuses on selling access to its mobile networks via the SIM cards used in mobile phones. These SIM cards can be bought as part of a deal when buying a mobile phone from many of the world’s leading manufacturers, such as Apple, Samsung, Nokia, BlackBerry, Sony, Huawei, and Google.
Customers can either pay for their phone and subsequent subscription via bill monthly or buy the phone outright with a Pay As You Go SIM card, which can be topped up as and when required.
They also sell standalone SIM cards, other gadgets such as tablets, and a variety of accessories for mobile phones and tablets. They offer their subscribers insurance to cover them if their phones are lost, damaged, or stolen.
